I haven't been able to claim any musical talent since my high school marching band days, and even then I had to invest hours to obtain the level of mediocre. I believe the gift of music is something you're born with, and that I still have it on layaway somewhere.
The members of the group Pentatonix are living proof that when you've got musical ability and know how to use it, you can do amazing things. These five 20-somethings joined forces to compete on the TV Show "The Sing Off," and beat a bunch of other a cappella groups to take home the championship title. Since their win a couple years ago, they've put out two albums and toured the US using only their voices to recreate pop hits sans instruments.
Having attended one of their shows in New Orleans at the House of Blues, I can say firsthand how insane it is that they can do what they do. The cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us" comes off their latest studio album, and in my opinion is better than the original. Check out this single, as well as previous covers on their YouTube channel HERE.
