The New Orleans sauna won't prevent my participation in warm races throughout this month. From completing the Louisiana Bridge Run Series for a third time, to running the New Orleans Trail Run Series, traditional races on non-traditional courses make up the majority of my schedule. There's even a multi-discipline event that quite literally elevates bike riding to new heights. No matter where your racing takes you this month, consider one of these great events as a guaranteed fun addition to your calendar.
All Comers Track Meet 1000M to 2 Mile (Friday, June 5th & June 26th @ 7 p.m.) - Runners and race walkers of ALL ages and abilities are welcome to join these Metairie track events, with past participants ranging in age from 5 to 75. This is a free event with no pre-registration necessary.
Crescent Connection Bridge Run 4-Mile (Saturday, June 6th @ 7:00pm) - You climb of over 300 feet to the top of the Mississippi River Bridge is rewarded with spectacular sunset views of downtown New Orleans. Start time is pushed back this year to avoid the hottest temps of the day, and the post-race party under the bridge will go well in to the night.
Bridgeman 104 Duathlon 2-Mile/10-Mile/2-Mile (Sunday, June 7th @ 7:00am) - Run / Bike / Run is the game plan, with that middle segment taking you over the Mississippi River Bridge. Read a recap from last year's race HERE.
NOTC Summer Series Races 2-Mile (Wednesday, June 10th & June 24th @ 7:00pm) - The New Orleans Track Club hosts these fun runs through City Park that finish with a bi-weekly after party. Members run for FREE, with non-members paying only $5. Stick around after the races for food, beer, and more.
NOLA Trail Run Series (Saturday, June 13th & June 27th @ 8:00am) - The first two events of the 2015 Trail Run Series once again take place in the month of June, with the closing race mid-July. This year, custom laser medals will be produced for finishers of each race, with finishers of all three races receiving a special award.
Father's Day Race 2-Mile & Half Mile (Sunday, June 21st @ 7:00pm) - Celebrate dad in Audubon Park at the annual Father's Day Race. This year, all pre-registered participants go home with a pair of running sunglasses that will come in handy throughout the summer months.
